Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is a short and focussed model of therapy. It is a researched based approach to psychological issues. It is a new cutting edge model.

Length of therapy depends on the severity of the presentation and of course the individual client. My average number of sessions over the past two years works out at 5 sessions per client referred to me.

Each session lasts one hour of one-to-one discussion. The course of therapy is usually covered in the first three sessions, then the fourth session is used to rehearse and refresh. After the fourth session a follow-up session is then agreed allowing an interval of six weeks. At the six week session a further appointment may be agreed if necessary. Research shows that these follow-up sessions contribute hugely to a sucessful outcome of the therapy process.
